BM Beach
“A great little beach with warm water and lots of seashells.” That’s how one of our guests describes it.
From Ala Amid Bed & Breakfast, the trip to BM Beach takes around 3 minutes via tricycle. If you’re walking, that’s probably 10 minutes along BM Road, Barangay San Manuel, Puerto Princesa.
What is it like?
To say the beach has shallow waters is definitely an understatement. At its peak, the waters rise knee-high and you’ll have to walk over hundreds of meters before any semblance of swimmable water. The low waters make seashell collecting enjoyable.
That said, it’s actually a very serene place, with winds blowing in your ear and the sun shining on the treeless shore.
The entrance fee ranges from Php20.00 to Php30.00. We honestly don’t know when and how they change their rates, but prepare at least a few hundreds of Pesos to be sure.
The fees probably go to maintaining the place because that’s one other aspect it has going for them. It’s clean and well-kept.
Cottages for rent are also available. Cottage fees range from Php50.00 to Php100.00 depending on size. You’re also free to set up your picnic mats or hammocks anywhere as long as it doesn’t hamper other visitors. (But be wary of falling coconuts!)
Should you go?
With its shallow waters, BM Beach is not the beach to go to if you’re looking to swim a lot. Even if you plan a high-tide trip, expect it to be too shallow for swimming activities.
Wait, you know what, scratch that! It’s good for families with small children. Worry-free swimming for them actually.
But for some sunbathing and feeling the breeze, it might be worth the trip. Especially if you stay at one of the places along BM Road, such as Ala Amid Bed & Breakfast.
